Beauteous lives up to its title. The A section changes are related to the standard
Perdido, though with a couple of alterations; the bridge visits E major and C major with a contrasting Latin groove.

Paul Chambers Quintet" version is the second recording of
Beauteous, and it's the only one Paul played on. This song was first recorded in October 1956, on tenor saxophonist
J.R. Monterose's self-titled
debut album.
Also in May 1957, Paul Chambers recorded on the classic Miles Davis-Gil Evans orchestra collaboration "Miles Ahead." Other recordings featuring Chambers in the same month include sessions by

Curtis Fuller, Red Garland, and John Coltrane.
